Personal Entry No. 48
Hello, everyone! I have returned from my journey home, as well as from all of the surprises that met me when I came back to university (including daffodils, a hurried overview of the life and death of Ilya Muromets, the connections between Russian and Greek epics, an unexpected article in French, and a JSPS survey).1

Special welcome to [livejournal.com profile] baelheit, [livejournal.com profile] ianthefira, and [livejournal.com profile] kaiyashe, whom I met in the Baten Kaitos thread in a "Small Fandoms" friending meme. If you added me to your friends list because of that meme, and I failed to add you back, please comment here so that I can go ahead and do so.

Finally, my apologies for being entirely removed from LiveJournal and Dreamwidth for the past week. My vacation was very uneventful--everyone seemed to be out of the house most of the time--but I was able to get some work done. Mass Effect 2 has been beaten to death, and I enjoyed every minute of it; while it was difficult going from a deep and intricate plot to none at all, I also began Armored Core: For Answer, which is the classiest-looking mecha game I've ever played. Then again, the only other mecha games I've played are MechWarrior and Custom Robo, so what do I know?

My father surprised me with the bookshelf I had asked for over a year ago, so I was able to re-categorize my books and finally get those cardboard boxes out of my room. I wish I could have taken some photographs to share with you all, especially since it's been a long time since I posted photos on this journal, but I unfortunately left the camera in my dorm room. It was made worse by the fact that we enjoyed warm weather for the whole week--I wish I could have gone out for a long walk around the beaches and marsh.

All that aside, it was good to go home again and see my family. It's always difficult to say goodbye to them again.

1The research coordinator promised the participants a free Japanese handkerchief, retail value 15 USD, with the return of the surveys. They were even designed by a Living Natural Treasure! Wonderful!

Welcome back!!!

My vacations are usually uneventful, however as long as you're having a good time relaxing then you're okay :)

I usually read, browse the net, watch tv, and hang out with friends and family when I'm on vacation. So enjoy the laziness as much as possible because school will suck the life out of you :)

I really want a new bookshelf too!! I do all my academic/fun stuff in the backhouse and there's this huge fireplace that's taking up a lot of space. I really want to get rid of it so I can place a bookshelf there. Especially since my book and manga collection is growing!

Anyways, good to hear from you!

Thanks! It's good to hear from you, too.

School is already sucking the life out of me, but at least I've managed to land on my feet so far as homework goes. XD I'm personally glad my vacation was uneventful, but I wish my parents and brother had some more free time (they're both working, and his spring break is this week).

If all else fails, you can close the fireplace off, clean it, and install bookshelves inside of it. I'm not sure how aesthetically pleasing that would be, though. :/

Thanks. :) I need to remind myself to actually replace the batteries in the camera before going on photographing expeditions. (That and learn more about photo composition, but I'm not going to be a professional photographer any time soon. XD)
