Personal Entry No. 9
I finally sent in my submission for the Fanbook, so I can get started on the icon requests soon. I'm sorry for the wait, everyone!
I also finally received a letter from my school stating that I made the Dean's List for last semester, which was a great relief even though I knew my GPA not long after I returned home. In May. Over two months ago. I shouldn't be whining about something so minor, though.
Leave me a comment and I will give you a letter. Then, write 10 things that you love starting with that letter. Post the list in your journal. Give out letters to your commenters in return.
This one was from
mairenn_k, who gave me the letter "A."
1. Apples.
2. Anton Chekhov's stories.
3. Antirrhinum (snapdragons).
4. Aquilegia (columbines).
5. Antiques (mostly old bottles, books, and assorted things that are slightly useless).
6. Autumn.
7. Archie and Mehitabel.
8. Astronomy.
9. Anna Akhmatova's poems.
10. April1st.
I had to stretch it somewhat, but that's not half bad!
Setting that aside, we'll be leaving at 3:00 today to take our dashingly-handsome older cat to the vet's for a check-up. Kipper's been diagnosed with both diabetes and thyroid problems, and--while he doesn't mind his insulin shots--he despises his medicine. Does anyone have any good ideas for giving pills to cats?

Our dog has needed to take medicine ever since he was a puppy, and we've always given it to him in his food. I think the problem with Kipper is that, his mouth being smaller, he can more easily notice the pill. :/ I suggested to my mother that we cut it up into smaller pieces or even grind it up, so we'll see how that works out.

I too would suggest trying to put the pills in food, otherwise really the only thing to do would be one person to hold him, another to pretty much shove the pill in, unkind as that sounds. :|;; We've had problems with giving our cat pulls before too, and it's uncomfortable but sometimes there's no other way.

As it stands, that's what we've been doing up to now. :( I hope he gets used to the taste of the pills.

When we need to give our cat pills, we usually roll them up in cheese or ham or something else that she likes. It works sometimes. Um, and in worst case we just put the pill in her mouth and keep her jaws shut until she swallows. She's very good at pretending to swallow and then spitting everything out as soon as you let go of her, though.

We tried "pill pockets" made out of meat, but Kipper didn't seem to care for them--maybe they didn't mask the pill enough? Real meat or cheese might work better in this case.
Instead of pretending to swallow, Kipper usually hides the pills under his tongue and spits them out as soon as he's several feet away (that is, when he believes himself to be out of view). XD

I would suggest that you put the pills in food, just like the other people said. My cat just normally eats it without a problem, so i really don't know.

I think that, if putting the pills in real food or cutting them up doesn't work, then we'll just have to wait until he gets used to the taste of the medicine. You're lucky that your cat is so well-behaved!

My Friend and I have a joke about her.
My friend draws Syaoran so he looks like he has devil horns, so she called him a devil. And My cat is eally evil so we call my cat Syaoran's Devil Offspring.

A-And I'd second putting the pills into food like everyone else said, but my cats always manage to eat around the pills. It is definitely worth trying, though. I think my cats just want to make things difficult, haha.

Oh, could I ask for a letter, please? :)
Aaah, old books are so beautiful ;w;
O-oh my. I used to have a kitty, but that was ages ago. When he was sick we tried dissolving the pills in the cat-milk he used to drink, if I remember correctly. Worked for him, but it depends on the cat, I guess? xD;

Thank you! How about "N" for the meme?
I'm not sure if the pills will dissolve in water (they likely will, though), but that sounds like a good idea! We just have to make sure that our other cat doesn't drink it.

N it is! ^^
Ah, we crushed them first so they would solve...
Oh, so you have two cats? /curious

We have a little calico cat named Hermione, who's slightly more fur than cat. She's much more feral than Kipper, though--she likes to hunt insects, and would love to hunt birds if we would only let her outside.

Awww, that sounds adorable! And Hermione's so fitting for a cat xDD
