First, here's an icon meme from
ju_jei! (I would've translated it into Russian for you, but it's beyond my ability at this point. I'm sorry, I should be keeping up with my Russian more!)
1. Reply "MEME!" to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
Kinomoto Sakura, the title character of Card Captor Sakura, looking either out onto the sun-filled alleys in Hong Kong or into a magical wardrobe. (I haven't seen the movie, so I can't say for certain what it is.) This is part of set of icons that I saved to my icons folder, but I unfortunately can't find the person who made them.

This is apparently Akari Shinohara, from Shinkai Makoto's Byōsoku Go Senchimētoru (5 Centimeters Per Second). The backgrounds from that film are lovely--I've read that Mr. Shinkai painted all of them himself, which would be remarkable if it was true. Regardless, I loved his use of color and light in all of the scenes I've seen thus far. I've only seen screencaps, though--5 Centimeters Per Second is yet another film I haven't watched. :(

A street scene from Tekkon Kinkreet. The film was shown at my school this past year as part of a series leading up to a lecture by Roland Kelts, the author of Japanamerica and numerous essays on Japanese pop culture.
I saw the film shown the night before (Grave of the Fireflies, which I do not have the sensitivity and grace to discuss), and attended Mr. Kelts's lecture, but...I gave up Tekkon Kinkreet for a night of studying. Thus, it's yet another film I haven't watched. ):( I regret it--even though I didn't care for the animation style when I first saw a screencap in my local newspaper several years ago, upon further investigation I found that I liked it very much. If I ever get the house to myself, I can have a movie marathon of sorts!

Clow Read/Reed, the undisputed origin of the plots for Card Captor Sakura, TSUBASA RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, and xxxHOLiC. He'll likely be the origin of the plot for Gate 7, mark my words.
I made this icon myself--instead of just coloring it and painting in a background, as I do for most of the icons I make, I also drew in just about everything to the right of the front of his neck. (I can't find the original image right now--I usually delete my bases once I've finished with them--but I'm sure some of you know what it is.)

Mitani Wataru, the protagonist of Miyabe Miyuki's amazing Brave Story. Read it. Read it now! (The icon is actually from the film based on the novel, which is yet another that I haven't seen. >:( )
Unfortunately, the image is somewhat grainy, but it's one of the few good Brave Story icons I've found. (I'm still looking for Kutz icons.)

This is the icon I use for the "Momoism" posts (i.e., the icon and tutorial posts). I drew the chrysanthemums myself--even though peaches are the recurring theme around here, I just like drawing chrysanthemums more. The text is, literally, "Momoism" (Momoizamu). The whole thing is somewhat too pink for me (like the header of this journal), but I don't feel up to changing it just yet.
And here's another meme, taken from
mairenn_k, which I'm sure you've also all seen before:
Give me a fandom and I'll tell you:
1. The first character I fell in love with.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
5. The character I would shag anytime.
6. The character I'd want to be like.
7. The character I'd slap.
8. A pairing that I love.
9. A pairing that I despise.
10. Favorite character.
11. What my five favorite things about the fandom are.
12. What my five least favorite things about the fandom are.
13. Who my five favorite characters are.
14. Who my five least favorite characters are.
15. What my five favorite pairings are.
16. What my five least favorite pairings are.
17. Which character I'm most like.
18. What my deep, dark fandom secret is.
Finally, I have85 92 icons ready to go. Unfortunately, I've fallen short on my promises--this was supposed to contain a much larger number of Fay, Kurogane, Fujimoto, and Eriol icons than it does now. I'm thinking that I'll set up a requests post soon to make up for it...
...regardless, the next post will definitely be the second icon post.
